01
Off-the-shelf scripts age badly.
Brilliant Directories, Sabai, Listify — real platforms with real features, but built generic. Customising them properly requires deep familiarity with their data models. Most agencies stop at "the homepage looks branded" and leave listing pages, faceted search, and dashboards untouched.
02
Faceted search is structurally tricky.
Every additional filter (location × category × attribute × availability × price tier) multiplies the indexable URL space. Without proper canonicalisation and parameter handling baked into the build itself, the entire domain gets devalued by Google for thin content.
03
Payment integration with adult-tolerant gateways is non-trivial.
Stripe declines most adult use cases. Standard PayPal won't either. Adult-tolerant gateways — Paxum, CCBill, NETBilling, Verotel, Epoch — each have their own integration friction. Generic plugins ignore this and leave you to figure it out after launch.
